Three Cups of Tea – Thank you to all my clients!

Not only did I receive a very generous tip from a client today, I also received a copy of the book Three Cups of Tea, autographed by the author himself!

What a gift.  I really do feel blessed.  And it reminds me of how deeply nourishing it is for me to help people journey into themselves and discover what’s there.  That too is a daily gift.

So thank you for all the blessings you bestow upon me when you trust me and come to me for help.  Here’s to the deepest parts of ourselves, who we truly are.

Warmly,

Lucien

Are you having a Nervous BreakTHROUGH!?

A client and I were discussing the value of falling apart… the very real dis-integration that happens when we are learning to move from a set of habitual behaviors towards making new choices.  When we’ve left the relative safety of the known defense and are swimming in unknown waters.  It can feel like an utter breakdown; urgent, scary, uncertain.

So I said, ”A friend of mine (well known Gestalt therapist) likes to say, “Breakdown preceded breakthrough.”

My client replied, “Well, a friend of mine likes to say, “I’m having a nervous breakthrough!”

I just LOVE that saying!  Having our hearts and minds WIDE OPEN during the periods of uncertainty and change is what helps us land safely on the other side.  Openness makes the difference between breakdown and breakthrough.

How do we stay open when it hurts the most?… with love and support.  The support of loving friends, a trusted therapist, our community.  Most importantly, a place where we can slow down, turn inside, and give ourselves the opportunity to see new choices spontaneously arrive in consciousness.  The combination of moving consciously toward our experience in the presence of love and acceptance is what makes the difference between nervous breakdowns or gently breaking through to new possibilities.

Therapy is essentially about freedom.  The freedom to be who we truly are.  So if you’re feeling like you’re about to fall apart and shatter, move consciously, please reach out for love and support.

With love,

Lucien

2010: Turning Point… A Passion for Psychotherapy.

.
Dear Friends, Clients, and Loved Ones,
Thank you for an amazing year!  By all measures I had my best year ever as a therapist.  Thank you for trusting me with your wellness and your unique healing journey.
2010 was a major turning point in my career as a therapist and a healer.  Following my passion for people and their stories led me to expand my skillset into the field of psychotherapy.  Towards the end of 2009 I began a 2-year training in the Hakomi Method of Experiential Psychotherapy and thus began a real love-affair with this work!

I used to think of myself as a bodyworker who was very passionate about people’s process and psychology.  Now I realize that I feel much more like an emerging psychotherapist who has a lot knowledge and experience in the body.  As 2010 comes to a close I feel myself clearly headed towards a career in body-centered psychotherapy.  As a result I feel more energized and impassioned about my work and my path as a healer than ever before.

In 2011 I will begin incorporating more Hakomi-based psychotherapy into my bodywork sessions.  I will also begin offering stand-alone Hakomi-based psychotherapy sessions to new and existing clients.  (Please feel free to ask me about this new work and how it can help you!)

WHAT ABOUT MASSAGE?  Not to worry!… It is my intention to continue to offer great massage and bodywork.  Getting clearer about my passion for psychotherapy does not mean leaving behind massage and hands on healing work.  Taking this next step simply means expanding my offering so I can continue to serve you in the best way possible.  Over time I hope to have a healing practice that is 2/3 psychotherapy and 1/3 massage and bodywork.
Above all I have a passion for helping each person on their unique healing journey.  In the end my central question as a healer will always be, “How can I help you?”
Here’s to your health, Truth, and happiness in 2011,
Sincerely,

Lucien

Credit Card Payments on my iPhone! Coming Soon…

.

I just signed up to accept credit card payments on my iPhone through a company and device called Square.  I’m very excited about it!

The concept is simple:  Using a little device that plugs into the headphone jack of the phone, I turn my iphone into a secure credit card terminal.  This is so great!  Lot’s of people ask me if I accept credit cards and now I can say “yes!”.

Check out the video.

I love integrating technology into my healing work with people.  And as a small business owner it makes it easier to compete with larger establishments if I can accept credit cards without a merchant account.  More details coming soon…

Thank you Square!

Calling all Community! – Circle Up!

.

You are not alone.  The voice of the community is saying, “Help me!”  How do we respond?

ANSWER:  Circle up!   Gather up your friends, loved ones, and those important to your life and call them into a circle to share your situation and get support.  Simple, powerful, NECESSARY.

There’s no better time to flex the muscle of community.  And there’s no better way to address the personal difficulties in our lives than by getting together and sharing.  Sharing the intensity, emotion and reality of our current situations.  It’s too big to do it alone; too daunting.  It’s bigger than us, so why try and tackle it by yourself or with your partners, alone in your home?

With the power and support of your friends and loved ones around you, things get easier.  Before a “solution” can come, the moment needs to be felt.  Sometimes that is too much for one person to feel.  Small circles of support spread out the daunting energy of the situation making it palatable and life-size.

You are not alone.  Pick up the phone, send an email, tell a friend at the grocery store you need some support.  And ask someone else if they need a little support from you.  Flex your community muscles.

Calling all community… CIRCLE UP!

The Back Whisperer – This stuff works!

.

During a session recently a major shift occurred in a client’s back.  The relief inspired a wonderful fit of laughing that ended with them saying, “Man, you’re like the Back Whisperer‘!”

We both had a good laugh at that, followed by a a short discussion that really recognized and acknowledged the significant shift in their quality of life since starting regular bodywork with me over two years ago.

When they first started coming they were in an almost constant state of moderate pain and discomfort, and suffering from debilitating bouts of severe pain on a daily basis.  Not only was their daily life filled with pain and discomfort, but they lived with the belief that, “This is the way it is”, not really knowing that there was another way to experience their life.  Now, almost three years later, they live without even noticing their back, and come in occasionally for maintenance as needed!

The real message is people can break out of the narrow grooves they live in and experience the joy, ease and pleasure of living in their body again.  We don’t have to live stuck in our pain, or stuck wondering, “Is this it?”.  We can meet the issues of our body and mind with conscious attention and skill, and experience real change.

Whether or not you are in pain, if you have a sense that there’s more to life than what you are living, come in and let’s work together.  You will be making a powerful choice to support yourself, and give yourself an opportunity to experience more and more of your full potential.

This stuff works!

Spiritual Health

.

“A good gauge of spiritual health is to write down the three things you most want. If they in any way differ, you are in trouble.”
